A Shared Gift

The Milk Gift was founded from personal experience — shaped by both the joy of breastfeeding and the lived experience of baby loss.

We understand that breastfeeding can hold deep meaning for many families. For some, it is a time of connection and nourishment. For others, it becomes a tangible memory they carry after loss.

Both experiences matter, and both deserve to be honoured.

Supporting Families Through Every Journey

Alongside creating bespoke breastmilk jewellery, The Milk Gift operates a compassion-based model.

With each piece purchased, a contribution is made towards creating a breastmilk keepsake for a bereaved family. In this way, every order helps extend care beyond itself, gently supporting another family to honour their baby and their feeding journey.

This approach allows us to hold both joy and grief together, recognising that they often exist side by side.

A Thoughtful Approach

Our model is designed to be sustainable, respectful, and led by care.

Keepsakes are offered in line with availability, ensuring that each family receives the time, attention, and sensitivity their piece deserves.

Working Alongside Care Providers

We are committed to improving how breastfeeding is recognised within bereavement care.

The Milk Gift aims to work alongside care facilities and bereavement support organisations to ensure that families who have experienced loss are given the opportunity to preserve and honour their milk, should they wish to do so.

This is an area of care that is often overlooked, and we hope to contribute to a more compassionate and supportive approach.

A Shared Act of Care

When you choose a piece from The Milk Gift, you are not only creating something meaningful for yourself, but also helping to make that same opportunity possible for another family.

A powerful act of care, shared between families.

Frequently asked questions

What is A Shared Gift?

A Shared Gift is a charitable offering from The Milk Gift, created to support families whose babies are no longer here.
Through donations and partnerships with hospitals, charities, and healthcare professionals, we provide a breastmilk keepsake to selected bereaved families.
Created from a family’s own milk, each keepsake is designed to honour a meaningful connection and recognise the significance of their feeding experience.

How do families receive The Keepsake Bottle?

Usually, The Keepsake Bottle is provided through our partnerships with hospitals, bereavement teams, charities, and healthcare professionals.

As a small business, we create a limited number of keepsakes each year. For this reason, A Shared Gift is not currently open for direct applications and we are unfortunately unable to offer a keepsake to every family who gets in touch.

Can I purchase The Keepsake Bottle?

The Keepsake Bottle is a charitable offering and is not generally available to purchase.

From time to time, we may consider a very limited number of commissioned keepsakes outside of the charitable offering. If this is something you would like to discuss, please feel free to contact us.

If you are looking for a way to preserve your milk, The Milk Gift also offers a collection of bespoke breastmilk jewellery, handcrafted using your own milk and created with the same care and attention.

How is A Shared Gift funded?

A portion of profit from each sale funds the creation of Th Keepsake Bottle. A Shared Gift is also funded through keepsake donations.

Every contribution helps cover the materials, packaging, and time needed to create and gift keepsakes to bereaved families.

By supporting The Milk Gift, you help extend that support to other families and allow more keepsakes to be gifted in the future 🤍

I work with bereaved families. How can I work with The Milk Gift?

We love to hear from healthcare professionals, bereavement teams, charities, and organisations supporting families after baby loss.

A Shared Gift was created from lived experience and a desire to ensure more families have access to meaningful breastmilk keepsakes during an incredibly difficult time.

Whether you would like to learn more about The Milk Gift, discuss referrals, explore a partnership, or simply start a conversation, please get in touch. We would be delighted to hear from you.

Please get in touch at themilkgift@gmail.com explaining your role in the organisation and how you feel The Milk Gift will benefit those you work with.
