Caring for your Breastmilk Jewellery
Your piece has been carefully handcrafted using preserved breastmilk and resin. As with all jewellery, with care, it can be treasured for years to come.
Keep Dry
Avoid contact with water where possible.
Remove your jewellery before bathing, swimming, or showering, as moisture can affect both the metal and the breast milk stone over time.
Avoid Chemicals
Keep away from perfumes, lotions, and cleaning products.
Apply these before wearing your jewellery and allow them to fully absorb to help protect the finish and stone.
Store Safely
Store your piece in a dry, cool place when not being worn.
A jewellery box or soft pouch will help prevent scratches and reduce exposure to humidity and sunlight.
Limit Sunlight
Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
Over time, UV light may cause subtle changes in the colour of the stone.
Clean Gently
If needed, clean with a soft, dry cloth.
Avoid using water, jewellery cleaners, or polishing solutions on the breast milk stone.
Wear with Care
Remove your jewellery during exercise, sleeping, or manual activities.
This helps protect both the setting and the stone from knocks or damage.
Each piece is unique and may naturally change slightly over time. These subtle changes are part of the nature of handmade keepsakes and do not affect the meaning or beauty of your piece.
Tarnishing
Sterling silver can oxidise over time, this is normal and easily fixed. Use a soft silver polishing cloth on the silver, taking care to avoid the breastmilk stones. The polishing compounds can damage the breastmilk stones.
To keep your jewellery shiny, wearing it actually prevents oxidation! When it is not being worn, store it in an airtight bag or jewellery box.
Damage
If your jewellery or keepsake is damaged, please get in touch with clear photos. Where possible we will provide a quote or advice.
